The Cowlitz Trout Hatchery
The Cowlitz Trout Hatchery is located about 6 miles downriver from Mayfield Dam. Tacoma Power owns the facility and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife operates it with our funding and support. Each year, summer-run and winter-run steelhead and sea-run cutthroat are released from the hatchery.

Blue Creek Boat Launch
The boat launch is located near the trout hatchery and includes a large parking lot, restrooms and ADA-compliant riverside fishing platforms. There is no cost to use the boat launch.
Camping is allowed in part of the parking lot for up to three days, but no fires are allowed.

NW Trek Wildlife Center
Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is a more than 720-acre recreational facility that houses over 195 North American animals. The park features the Cheney Family Discovery Center, which offers several activities to children. It houses various animals, such as grizzlies, black bears, wolves, bobcats and cougars. Northwest Trek Wildlife Park serves the residents of Pierce County in Washington. The park conducts research on animal habitat requirements, behaviors and diseases. It administers the Pygmy Rabbit Recovery Program. Northwest Trek Wildlife Park has a partnership with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Its Fir Bough Caf features picnic areas.
