Sasquatch Family Farms Partners with WSU & Lewis County Conservation District to Host New Weather Station

Sasquatch Family Farms has donated land for a new Washington State University AgWeatherNet (AWN) weather station right here in rural Southwest Washington!

This project, in partnership with the Lewis County Conservation District and WSU, marks a major step forward in collecting accurate, real-time weather data to support farmers, ranchers, and researchers across our region.

AgWeatherNet provides high-quality weather monitoring and decision-support tools designed to help farmers make smarter, data-driven choices. Each station tracks key details like air and soil temperature, humidity, wind speed, solar radiation, and rainfall—updated every 15 minutes. These insights help growers across Washington optimize planting schedules, protect crops, and respond to changing climate conditions.

“As a farm, we are delighted to have been able to donate land as part of a partnership with the Lewis County Conservation District and WSU to start collecting farm data in rural SW Washington,” said Farmer Shauna. “Sasquatch Family Farms is grateful we get to farm. We are hopeful that this weather station will help provide data that increases farming in Lewis County and aids in making data-based decisions.”

The new station will benefit farmers, students, researchers, and community members alike by strengthening local understanding of weather patterns, soil health, and sustainable practices. Bonus we are right next to the Ed Carlson Memorial Field/South Lewis County Airport TDO and this information will also be helpful for pilots.
